Tis the season, and with so many gifts and a tight budget these sugar scrub cubes are a great option for teachers, friends and anyone who could use a spa like retreat in a cube! They are so simple and were easy to put together the night before the last day of school if you happen to be the forgetful last minute type (I am not admitting to anything! )
First grate up a bar of soap. You can use any bar, but I have noticed Dove and Jergan’s melt down better than most. Also Dial does not melt down very well so I would steer clear of it.
I used coconut oil, but almond or olive oil should work as well. I just love coconut oil for so many reasons!
Then you want to melt it down. You can use a double boiler (or a bowl over your pan of water like me). Or you can melt it with the microwave ten seconds at a time on high stirring in between each time.
Next add your sugar, for the gingerbread ones I added brown sugar, but the white I used for my peppermint and eggnog ones.
Then press the mixture into your cube trays and place in the freezer for at least 30 minutes! Place them in an airtight container and add a tag and you are ready to go. They are good for 3 months which is awesome!
